Lounge Tour

Overview

Hey again! So, instead of replying to all the comments individually asking where things are from, I thought I'd film a lounge tour and compile all the links into one handy blog post!

I currently live with Rachel Lee and my boyfriend Mitch, so the lounge room needed to consider them as well when I was decorating it (I got the job of doing that because, well I don't know, it just happened).

As many of you know, I'm not a huge TV watcher, that one came from Rachel Lee's old apartment, so I'm not sure where that's from to link it, but in my opinion a lounge room doesn't even need a TV if you don't watch it! I've never owned one (ever), every TV I've had in a house has always belonged to someone else haha.

So let's get started:

COUCH

It took so long for us to all agree on a couch that we liked! We wanted something that wouldn't look like it took up the whole lounge room, but still had enough space to spread out.

JUTE CHAIRS

These chairs look a little strange, but they're actually quite comfortable, because they're made from woven jute! They're also larger than you expect, you can curl up in them!

WOODEN SIDE TABLE

This side table is meant to look rustic, it has little splits, chips, etc all throughout. It is also INSANELY HEAVY, especially for a little side table - but that doesn't stop it from being one of my favourite pieces of furniture in the home.

WOVEN SIDE TABLE

As I mentioned in my Bedroom Tour post/video, this side table was from a set of 2. The smaller one is upstairs in the room, and the larger one is down next to the couch for a place to put things!

All of the lounge furniture from my last apartment (I didn't have much in there... a couch, a ladder shelf and a standing desk) was sold so that I didn't have to freight it down to Melbourne with me. I spent longer than I should have trying to find pieces I truly loved for the lounge room so that I could keep them for a long time. I can recall quite a few times Mitch complained that there was no couch because we hadn't all picked one yet hahah.

Again I wanted to go for that relaxed, warm vibe in the lounge room through the natural colour palette and use of textures such as wood and jute. The space is particularly inviting in the evening when the area is filled with the soft glow from the woven lamp by the TV unit. By the way, the woven baskets the plants are in are all from Freedom!

There are two things I cannot link!

(1) The coffee table
It's just a little DIY job! Two palettes (one on top of the other) and wheels attached at the base so that it could be rolled around the lounge room to wherever we want it.

(2) The floor lamp
It's from Freedom, but is no longer in stock.

FLOOR CUSHIONS

Made out of handwoven Water Hyacinth these cushions can be stacked on top of each other, or scattered separately. I have the 60cm diameter ones.

TV UNIT

Now granted, this TV unit is totally empty because we don't actually need any storage space, but I liked the mid-century-esque vibes it gives, with the slanted legs that match the rest of the furniture in the room.

BOOK SHELF

I actually bought this shelving unit second hand off someone who had purchased it but never assembled it! I think it needs more plants :)

RUG

This is not likely to hang around during summer, but we currently have a rug on the floor!

There you have it, folks! Our lounge.

I feel like it doesn't look too minimal/bare like some of my lounge rooms have in the past when my colour palette was strictly white/black. At the same time it's not cluttered because none of us own heaps of junk that's just sitting around - everything that's in there has a purpose, and for me, that's what it's all about!
