Bedroom Tour

Welcome to my room! As per your comment requests let me show you around. This was originally going to be our office, as on the floor plan of our house it's called a "second living room" - it's the top story, and is completely open plan with a balcony attached. Due to the nature of our filming and music work we had to swap the office and bedroom around. You can read more about that in my office tour here.

The style I went for is a little different to what I've done in previous apartments, which I also explained in the last blog, but I'm happy with how it turned out. My initial thought at integrating some colour and texture is that it would look too cluttered, but considering we don't own heaps, the bedroom keeps a pretty minimal look to it anyway.

I also purchased a new a-frame clothes hanger to hang up some of our favourite/most worn items. I feel like clothes add a cool mood and make it feel more like a bedroom, rather than just a bed in a big open living space. I also stuck to the usual "plants as decor" thing.

I was on a waiting list for 2 months for this bed base, no joke! It was a style that I had been seeking for so long that I almost considered hiring a carpenter or someone with similar skills to make one for me! I found it on Koala, it's assembled and taken apart in less than 5 minutes, and doesn't require any hardware. They don't always have them in stock, so you may have to join the mailing list to find out when they get them in next. Linens are from here.

The simple a-frame which I mentioned. The design is very minimal to look at, and it would be suitable enough for hang your proper wardrobe, or, like I've done, simply statement or season-current pieces.

I stole some of Mitch's hangers to put up on the a-frame as they matched the colour theme better than my Henkerman Hangers which are down in our regular wardrobes.

This was an investment piece, and something which I pondered upon for months before purchasing, it's only a 1.5 seater armchair, but it's so wonderfully comfortable. It's a great place to snuggle in for a read.

Our bedside table lamps actually sit on a neat little storage shelf section of the bed frame (behind the bedhead). I think this really softens the light in the evening, and because I don't have a bedside table on my side, it keeps the lamp cord clutter hidden.

I've been waiting for a favourite photographer of mine to release prints for a while now, so this set of 3 wave print from an artist on Etsy is a placeholder for the time being, to give the room a little more life.

Overall I'm really enjoying how the space has come together. When I'm in this room I get a sense of calmness and stillness, which are two great feelings for a bedroom to have, in my opinion anyway haha. I need it to be a space I can relax and unwind, and settle down for the evening!
